Spend sunrise and sunset, June 15th – Labor Day, strolling along the best of Southern Maine beaches where dogs are allowed before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m. Hours change the day after Labor Day when dogs can enjoy the beautiful long sandy beaches of Kennebunkport all day long.
For the best dog walking experience, we suggest low tide at Gooch’s Beach, Kennebunkport’s most popular dog beach–which provides optimal running space. When the water reaches high tide, head on over to Mother’s Beach for more room. It’s the perfect place for you and your dog to play in the sand and catch some ocean surf. Hike the Nearby Trails
It’s not just about the beaches! Spend the day exploring Kennebunkport nature with your pup on the Edwin L. Smith Preserve. As part of the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust, this preserve offers 1,100 acres of forested landscape with ten miles of recreational trails, babbling brooks, and quiet spots for picnicking. With its abundance of wildlife, you are bound to see an animal or two, so it is requested dogs are kept on lead or under voice control. Our favorite trails? Briddle Trail, Wonder Brook Park and Hope Woods Trail, all conveniently located close to the Waldo Emerson Inn, are well-marked, easily accessible and offer pristine open nature and scenic views through all seasons.

As part of your stay, join us for “Yappy Hour“ and enjoy drinks from our Honor Bar. “Yappy Hour” is a perfect opportunity for dogs in residence to play together while owners enjoy a drink in our beautiful gardens or by the outdoor fire pit.
